AI is making the inbox noisier
AI is already changing what lands in your inbox.
AI-generated phishing gets a lot of attention, and it should. But there’s another effect we deal with every day: more noise in our inboxes.
Some of it comes from salespeople, marketers, and recruiters. They may be real people with legitimate things to offer. Their messages aren’t malicious. They’re just emails you didn’t ask for and don’t want.
AI makes it easier to write those messages and send more of them. Someone still has to sort through the noise, deciding what to read, delete, or respond to. And the more noise there is, the easier it can be to miss something harmful.
That’s why the job isn’t just finding the “bad” email. It’s stopping the email the recipient doesn’t want.
The better we protect people from unwanted email, the more useful and secure their inbox becomes.
